Edwards Named to the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Watch List

Friday afternoon, West Virginia center Jesse Edwards is one of 20 big men named the 2024 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award Watch List. The honor recognizes the top center in men’s college basketball.
“The centers on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watch list should feel tremendously proud of all they have accomplished to be associated with one of the greatest players basketball has ever seen,” said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. “We are honored to have Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s perspective when evaluating talent each year, and we encourage the fans to vote alongside Kareem throughout this process.”
The Syracuse transfer averaged 14.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game last season as a senior, including scoring a career-high 27 points in the season finale versus Wake Forest, nabbed a career-best 21 rebounds against Bryant in November and twice swatted a season-high six blocks (Pitt, Richmond), a notch below his career-high set as a junior.
