Is Northern Colorado Transfer Dalton Knecht a Possible Erik Stevenson Replacement?

Mountaineers show interest in big-time scorer.

West Virginia needs to find a new go-to scorer for the 2023-24 season to replace the offensive output of Erik Stevenson. They've offered a laundry list of guys in the transfer portal already and recently reached out to former Northern Colorado guard, Dalton Knecht, according to Sean Paul of Mountain West Wire.

Knecht played two years at Northeastern (CO) Junior College prior to making the jump to D-I. In 67 games with the Bears, Knecht scored 959 points and pulled down 357 rebounds. After coming off the bench as a junior, Knecht slid into the starting lineup and became one of the best scorers in the country. This season, he averaged 20.2 points per game, shooting 48% from the field and 38% from deep.

If the Mountaineers want to land one of the top-scoring guards in the portal, they're going to have to earn it. Knecht is also receiving interest from Arizona State, Arkansas, Colorado, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, LSU, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, Utah, and Washington.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.
