Meet 'The Future of WVU Basketball'

Josh Eilert is extremely high on the transfer from Eastern Michigan.

Noah Farrakhan is going to be a big part of West Virginia's success, but he won't be able to make his mark on the program until next year.

The Eastern Michigan transfer already used his one-time transfer after beginning his career at East Carolina. The 6'2", 170-pound guard led EMU in scoring as a redshirt freshman in 2021-22 averaging 16.6 points per game. Last season, he attempted roughly four fewer shots per game which played a factor in his per-game average dropping to 12.1. He also went from shooting at a 40% clip from three-point range down to a measly 24%.

Despite the slight drop in production, there's no reason to be concerned with Farrakhan. He's a freakish athlete who has incredible bounce, as evidenced in the dunk contest at Mountaineer Madness where he jumped over seven-foot center, Ali Ragab.

"I certainly wish he was eligible. Certainly," said WVU interim head coach Josh Eilert. "He's so good in the open floor. He's so athletic and so quick. He's one of those quick twitch guys that can make a play and be down the floor in two or three steps it seems like. It sure would be nice to have him, but he's going to be the future of Mountaineer basketball and something for all you fans to look forward to."

Although the Mountaineers could surely use him this season, he'll be able to sit back and learn, study, and watch veteran Kerr Kriisa operate. It'll also allow him to sharpen his game and work on adding some new things to his arsenal so that next season, he's ready to take the torch.

Coming out of The Patrick School, Farrakhan was considered a three-star recruit and held offers from Florida, Iona, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi State, New Mexico, Ohio State, Penn State, Pitt, Providence, Rutgers, Seton Hall, St. John's, VCU, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and several others.
