Pitt Transfer John Hugley Commits to Big 12 Rival

Hugley was once a target for WVU.

With the recent addition of Syracuse Jesse Edwards, West Virginia created a deep, crowded room of centers. The plan initially was to host Pitt transfer John Hugley on a visit but those plans changed and now, Hugley is headed to Oklahoma.

Hugley only saw eight games of action this year due to a lingering knee injury that he suffered prior to the start of the season. He tried to play through it but just couldn't play at full speed and opted to shut it down early in the year.

In 32 games in 2021-22, Hugley was considered one of the better centers in the ACC, averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Hugley chose Oklahoma over West Virginia, Michigan, Oregon, Miami, Rutgers, Xavier, Arkansas, LSU, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Maryland, Georgia Tech, UCF, Wisconsin, Butler, Dayton, Ohio, Arizona State, Georgia, Duquesne, Oakland, Loyola Marymount, Cleveland State.

He will have three years of eligibility remaining.
