The West Virginia Mountaineers (15-12, 4-10) host the Oklahoma State Cowboys (16-11, 7-7) Monday night at seven o'clock and the action airing on ESPN2.

Schuyler Callihan: West Virginia 81, Oklahoma State 75

This may be one of the most inconsistent West Virginia teams that I have ever covered. So, after losing three straight and looking like an NIT team at best, the Mountaineers will come out and play extremely well tonight, getting fans sucked back into believing they can make a run.

Avery Anderson III (wrist) is a huge loss for this Oklahoma State team, especially against WVU - a team he has had a great deal of success against.

During this three-game skid, we've seen WVU get bullied in the paint and on the boards. Head coach Bob Huggins has called out his team's lack of physicality and in order to win tonight's game, they're going to have no choice but to win the battle on the inside. Jimmy Bell has been non-existent over the last six games. That changes tonight. Bell records a double-double and helps WVU to a much-needed win.

Christopher Hall: Oklahoma State 77 West Virginia 76

West Virginia must play with a sense of urgency the rest of the season to have any shot at the NCAA tournament, but this sentiment has been echoing for over a month.

The Mountaineers won five out of seven games prior to their current three game skid and appeared to be on the path to the postseason. However, a poor showing on the road in a mini two-game road trip, albeit against top 10 teams, and coming off the most puzzling loss since, well, two weeks at TCU, this group cannot get on the same page.

Oklahoma State has lost consecutive games following a five-game winning streak and a stretch where the Cowboys had won seven of eight.

Avery Anderson III may be out of the lineup, but WVU has seen stars missing in the lineup and still found ways to lose, most notably, the recent loss to TCU when leading scorer Mike Miles was out of the lineup.

West Virginia should win this game, but they were supposed to beat Texas Tech on Saturday. I really don't know what Mountaineer team will show up but, recently, Oklahoma State has been a thorn in the side of WVU (which Big 12 team hasn't?) and have won seven of the last 11.

Oklahoma State will look the part of a team desperately wanting back in the postseason while West Virginia continues to find consistency somewhere. The Cowboys win another heartbreaker over the Mountaineers 77-76.
