Ames, IA – West Virginia (16-13, 5-11) will wrap up a two-game road trip against the Iowa State Cyclones (17-11, 8-8) Monday night and will air on ESPN2.

Iowa State held a record of 15-4 and sat 6-2 in Big 12 Conference heading in the Big 12/SEC Challenge and were shooting at a clip of 39.9% from behind the arc. Since then, the Cyclones have dropped seven of the last nine games, counting the 76-71 loss in Morgantown and are shooting 41.7% from the floor including 29.6% from three-point range during that span.

West Virginia guard Kedrian Johnson led all scorers with 22 points in the first meeting with the Cyclones. Forward Emmitt Matthews Jr. put up a season-high 20 points and began his recent emergence, averaging 12.7 points in the last six games.

Mountaineers’ forward Tre Mitchell has produced consecutive double figure performances for the first time since mid-January with a career-high 22 points in the win over Oklahoma State a week ago in Morgantown, in 20 points in the two-point loss at third-ranked Kansas on Saturday while guard Erik Stevenson has averaged 24.3 points in the last three games.

Iowa State leading scorer Jaren Holmes has failed to reach double figures in four of his last five outings, averaging 9.2 points during the stretch, with a 16-point outlier against TCU in one of the two Iowa State wins in the last nine games.

Cyclones’ second leading scorer forward Gabe Kalscheur went through a period of four games missing double figures but has since averaged 11 points in the last three contests.

West Virginia is 13-9 all-time versus Iowa State and has won seven of the last nine meetings.
