West Virginia Interested in Former UNC Wing Dontrez Styles

WVU aiming to add some help on the perimeter.

After two years at the University of North Carolina, Dontrez Styles is on the move. Since entering the transfer portal a week ago, the former Tar Heel has heard from a bevy of schools, including West Virginia.

According to Jamie Shaw of On3, Styles has also received interest from NC State, LSU, Providence, Charlotte, Towson, East Carolina, Richmond, and Florida Atlantic, among a few others.

Styles saw limited action during his time at UNC, averaging just over five minutes per contest as both a freshman and sophomore. For his career, Styles is averaging 1.4 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 41% from the field and 22% from three-point range.

Don't be fooled by the numbers, though. Styles is more than capable of being an impact player at this level. It just didn't work out for him in North Carolina and when you have as much talent as they have on a yearly basis, it's a challenge to earn playing time.

Coming out of high school in Kinston, NC, Styles was a very highly rated four-star recruit that held offers from Clemson, East Carolina, Georgetown, Maryland, NC State, Ole Miss, Pitt, St. John's, Texas A&M, South Florida, VCU, and Wake Forest.
