Team + Individual Stats vs. Virginia
General thoughts on the game
Well, I tell you, we’re not really into moral victories by any means. So, we’ve shorthanded and have a lot of challenges but that’s not my message to them. We’re going to compete every single night. But at the end of the day, you look at the stat lines, 16 turnovers and then the discipline down the stretch. We got some really passionate guys out there and I want them to play with passion, that edge, but I wanted to keep that inhouse, between your teammates. So, discipline, rebounding, like those small little things. I tell them all the time, ‘we have a very small margin of error,’ so, we got to be careful not to lose our heads down the stretch in situations like that. But, at the end of the day, if we get a rebound here or there, we got a chance to win the game.
Guards Seth Wilson and Kobe Johnson's second half output
I looked at the box score at halftime and Seth, JoJo, Kobe, nobody made a shot. We certainly want to get Jesse as many touches as possible, but those shooters got to shoot, and I told them that. That’s why they are out there. They are out there to do a lot of things, but they have another role, they got to make shots. So, I tried to instill some confidence in them at halftime and let them play a little more free. Seth did a heck of a job to hit a couple of shots there to really turn the tides in our direction. At the end of the day, it's just discipline we lacked on a few possessions.
Team discipline
We’re talking too much. I want them to communicate and over communicate with one another, but we don’t need to be talking to the other team, we don’t need to be talking to the other bench. And so, I'm going to get that cleaned up.
