Big 12 Score Predictions - Week 1

Kent State at UCF

The Knights have an easy start to their inaugural season as a Big 12 member here with Kent State in the opener. This one's over by the end of the first quarter, maybe sooner.

Prediction: UCF 63, Kent State 10.

Missouri State at Kansas

Daniels is healthy and back in at QB, but I get the sense the Jayhawks don't want to show too much here. Get the win and move on.

Prediction: Kansas 48, Missouri State 13.

Colorado at TCU

Coach Prime will have Colorado turned around in no time, but this is a tough test right out of the gate. TCU lost a lot from last year's team, but they have the ability to be an explosive offense once again.

Prediction: TCU 38, Colorado 14.

Arkansas State at Oklahoma

Ark State won three games a year ago. They stand absolutely no chance in this one.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 59, Arkansas State 7.

Northern Iowa at Iowa State

UNI is an average FCS team, but Iowa State has dealt with a lot off the field lately and I think we'll see some of the effects from that early on. ISU wins, but not as convincingly as their fans would hope.

Prediction: Iowa State 31, UNI 14.

Rice at Texas

Former WVU QB JT Daniels hopes to give Rice a chance at making a bowl game, but they're going to have to wait for that first win. Texas has way too much firepower for the Owls to keep up.

Prediction: Texas 54, Rice 20.

Eastern Kentucky at Cincinnati

Cincinnati will get better as the year moves along. This isn't going to be a thrilling first game for new head coach Scott Satterfield.

Prediction: Cincinnati 27, Eastern Kentucky 13.

SE Missouri at Kansas State

No Deuce Vaughn? No problem. K-State should have no issues running the football in this one. They'll get separation early and cruise to the finish line.

Prediction: Kansas State 45, SEMO 10.

Texas State at Baylor

Walk in the park this week for Baylor.

Prediction: Baylor 51, Texas State 9.

UTSA at Houston

It feels like Frank Harris has been the QB at UTSA for a decade. They're a legit football team and one that could win their conference. Houston has a lot of offensive production to replace and the defense is a mess. UTSA gets the win.

Prediction: UTSA 37, Houston 34.

Central Arkansas at Oklahoma State

This is a good game for new OSU QB Alan Bowman to figure things out in this offense and for some skill guys to emerge. Pokes have no trouble here.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 48, Central Arkansas 17.

Texas Tech at Wyoming

This is a whacky first game for the Red Raiders. I wouldn't be surprised if this game feels a whole heck of a lot closer than my prediction. Tech needs to be careful here, but I'll give them the edge.

Prediction: Texas Tech 35, Wyoming 21.

West Virginia at Penn State

Prediction: Penn State (score prediction will drop on Thursday).

Sam Houston at BYU

BYU's physicality and toughness in the trenches are too much for Sam Houston to handle.

Prediction: BYU 40, Sam Houston 14.
