Morgantown, WV - Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon ran for 282 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Cowboys (5-2, 3-1) to a 48-34 victory over the West Virginia Mountaineers (4-3, 2-2) Saturday evening. 

The West Virginia offense went three and out on the opening possession of the game but got the ball right back after Brennan Presley muffed the punt. However, on the second play of the drive, Kendal Daniels punched the ball away from tight end Kole Taylor and bounced right into the hands of Daniels as the Cowboys took over at their 29-yard line. 

A 32-yard run from Ollie Gordon on third and one set Oklahoma State up inside of WVU territory before the drive stalled at the 16 and the Cowboys settled for a 37-yard field for and early 3-0 lead. 

The Mountaineers committed their second turnover on their ensuing possession after quarterback Garrett Greene threw it right to Oklahoma State cornerback Korie Black and a 16-yard return placed the Cowboys at the 39. Five plays later, Gordon bounced outside for a two-yard touchdown run and a 10-0 lead. 

West Virginia answered on its following possession, constructing a 14-play 75-yard drive and highlighted by a 19-yard reception from Preston Fox to put the Mountaineers inside the five and Justin Johnson Jr. punched it into the endzone from three yards out to cut into the Cowboys lead 10-7 at the start of the second quarter. 

The Mountaineer defense held Oklahoma State to its first three and out, and the West Virginia followed with its second scoring drive of the afternoon. Greene put the Mountaineers in scoring position with a 23-yard run up the left side and Michael Hayes hit the 34-yard field goal to tie the game at ten. 

Alan Bowman led the Cowboys offense right back down the field, going 5-6 for 65 yards but the drive stalled at the WVU ten-yard line and had to settle for a field goal and a 13-10 lead. 

Garrett Greene responded on the first play of the following possession with an 18-yard throw E.J. Horton, then on third and nine, Greene scrambled left and floated a 45-yard touchdown pass to Devin Carter as the Mountaineers grabbed a 17-13 advantage and took the lead into halftime. 

Oklahoma State won the early field position battle and reclaimed the lead following a six-play 54-yard touchdown drive, capped off by five-yard touchdown reception from Jaden Bray. 

The Mountaineers responded on the ensuing drive, with Garrett Greene keeping the drive alive for a 13-yard run up the middle on third and six before hitting E.J. Horton over the middle for a 32-yard touchdown and the Mountaineer lead with 1:30 left in the third quarter. 

After the WVU defense held Oklahoma State in its own territory, Andrew Wilson-Lamp was pushed into punt returner Preston Fox as the ball hit Wilson-Lamp and the Cowboys recovered the muff punt at the Mountaineer 27-yard line. Two runs for 27 yards from Ollie Gordon gave Oklahoma State a 27-24 lead. 

West Virginia began its following possession with a 26-yard toss and catch from Greene to Fox and a 30-yard run from Justin Johnson Jr. put the Mountaineers just inside the ten but would settle for a field goal to tie the game at 27. 

Oklahoma State was gifted 30 yards in penalties on the second play its drive, following a facemask and a late hit out of bounds placed the Cowboys at the WVU 36-yard line. Three plays later, a quick pass to Brennan Presly, and a couple of missed tackles, resulted in a 29-yard touchdown and Oklahoma State held a 34-27 lead with 7:00 minutes remaining. 

West Virginia failed on a fourth and two attempt at midfield, and Oklahoma State's first play, Ollie Gordon burst through for a 46-yard touchdown and the Cowboys took a 41-27 with 5:15 left in the game. 

The Mountaineers quickly answered on their next possession, going 75 yards on six plays to get back within seven, 41-34. 

An onside kick attempt failed by the Mountaineers and Gordon put the game away with a 53-yard touchdown run to reclaim a two-possession lead and a 48-34 victory.
