Neal Brown Announces Players of the Week: NC State

From one end of the spectrum to the other, the Mountaineers who looked abismal last week vs Missouri, had an impressive 44-27 victory over ACC foe North Carolina State.

Many improvements were made across the board, but a handful of players were especially key in the team's victory. Head coach Neal Brown spoke on the teams performance, "Solid three phase win for us vs what I think is a really good program in North Carolina State. I've talked about it, I think Dave [Doeren] has done a really good job building that. Really proud of how our staff and our players responded. Wasn't perfect by any means, but we played the game the right way."

Offensive Player of the Week: WR Sam James

"Clearly the player of the week for us offensively was Sam James. Nine receptions 155 yards and a touchdown."

Defensive Player of the Week: Dante Stills

"Played 61 snaps, 2 sacks, a quarterback hurry, 2 tackles for loss. I thought he was disruptive. I think you're starting to see some of the signs of what he can be, which is a great player in our league."

Special Teams Player of the Week: Dante Bonamico

"24 plays, he started on all four core units, was in on both kickoff plays we had. He had a huge tackle on the fake punt and he did a great job in coverage on our punt team. He played extremely well."

Offensive Lineman of the Week: LT Colton McKivitz

"He played 72 snaps, 43 production points. Far and away our most productive offensive lineman, graded out at 93%."

Juice Award of the Week: QB Jarret Doege

"We talk about the juice guy on the sideline and I thought those guys did a really nice job providing energy on the sideline. Jarret Doege did the best job there.”

Community Service Award of the Week: DE Reese Donahue

"Our community service award and it's really for two weeks, it goes back to the Missouri week as well, was Reese Donahue. He represents our program in the right way."

Scout Offense Player of the Week: OL Brandon Yates & FB Elijah Drummond

"Brandon Yates is a guy that we're excited about moving forward and then Elijah Drummond who did a nice job there as well."

Scout Defense Player of the Week: LB Adam Hensley

"He did a tremendous job. Obviously he's very familiar with that defense, he did a really good job getting our offensive guys ready."

Scout Special Teams Player of the Week: WR Isaiah Esdale

Brown stated that his play in practice was a result of getting some time on special teams last week.

The Mountaineers will travel to Lawrence this weekend to take on the Kansas Jayhawks at 4:30 ET on ESPN+.
