Who is Zach Frazier's NFL Comp? NFL Analyst Weighs In

Draft grade and scouting report on Zach Frazier from NFL.com's Lance Zierlein.

West Virginia's Zach Frazier is hoping to win some folks over this week at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, showing off his high football IQ in team meetings while also doing some drills and the bench press.

Frazier will hold off on running the forty-yard dash and the shuttle until Pro Day, giving him more time to get back to 100% following the leg injury he sustained at the end of the season.

Most mock drafts have the former Mountaineer center pegged to go early in the second round, but NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah recently projected him to go in the first to the Detroit Lions.

Fellow NFL.com analyst Lance Zierlein recently handed Frazier a prospect grade of 6.12 - good backup with the potential to develop into starter. Zierlein compares Frazier to former Cardinals-Colts-Ravens-Buccaneers center, AQ Shipley.

Zierlein's scouting report on Frazier:

"Sawed-off frame with short arms and terrific power once he gets locked in. Frazier’s lack of ideal arm length will be a problem for some evaluators and could cause him problems on the next level. Frazier has bulldozer drive strength in his lower half but allows his hands to do too much grabbing and hugging at times. He has quick eyes and a firm punch in pass protection, but because of his lack of length and recovery ability, he’s going to have issues if he’s forced to protect on an island. Frazier has the potential to be a good backup or eventual starter, but he needs to play with consistent inside hands and must stay tight to his targets in order to mitigate his physical deficiencies."
