Things between Irvin and West Virginia have ramped up quickly as he received an offer in March, took a visit in early April, and now has them as a top interest.
"I've been a WVU fan for a long time," Irvin told Mountaineers Now. "Tavon Austin's highlight tape was my pregame hype video since I was 10 years old. A lot of great players and DBs have gone through the program and if I were to attend I know I would be the next.
A big part of why the Mountaineers are high on Irvin's list is because of the relationship he has developed with co-defensive coordinator ShaDon Brown.
"I like how he keeps it real. He tells me the things I'm good at as well as the things I need to work on. When I was down there I liked how he coached as well as the way the guys responded to him. Every time we talk it's productive and I walk away learning something which I find important.
"The visit [to WVU] went great I got the chance to see many new things, had a conversation with all of the coaches, and got to see how the guys practice for myself. There was good energy during practice and the coaches were always correcting small details. My biggest takeaway came from coach Brown in my 1-on-1 meeting. We watched tape and he told me why he knows I fit into the program."
As of today, there is no decision date set for Lloyd but he hopes to make one not all that long after he takes his official visits this summer.
