Tight end Jack Sammarco became the third member of West Virginia's 2024 recruiting class on Thursday, choosing the Mountaineers over offers from Akron, Army, Bowling Green, Connecticut, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Massachusetts, Miami (OH), Montana State, Temple, Toledo, Western Michigan, and others.

The Cincinnati, Ohio product has formed a strong bond with tight ends coach Blaine Stewart over the last several months and that relationship played a big part in shutting down his recruitment.

"I have a great relationship with him. He's a great coach. He has a lot of NFL experience and I feel that he can help me achieve my goals," he told Mountaineers Now. "They've also been consistent with me in communication and show that they want me and I just felt like the time was right. It feels great [to commit]. It's like a weight has been lifted off of me!"

But it wasn't just Blaine Stewart that did all the heavy lifting. Everyone on staff was honest with Sammarco throughout his recruitment and made him feel at home. He appreciated those sentiments and now can't wait to get back next month and show off his future school.

"They've been great. They have been very upfront with me in where they were with me in this process and I've reciprocated that. They make me feel like family every time I'm up there. I'm super excited for my official and I'm really excited for my little brother, Michael, to see how great WVU is. They have some of the best facilities I've seen in college football. They compare with Tennessee and Alabama."

Sammarco's official visit is set for June 9th-11th.
