WVU 2024 Recruiting Class Superlatives - Offense Edition

West Virginia signed 22 high school recruits on Wednesday and figure to be done as they turn their focus to the transfer portal. So now that we know who is coming to WVU from the high school ranks, we can hand out some superlatives.

We'll make predictions for both sides of the ball, but today we're focusing on the offense.

Top Three Recruits - OL Kyle Altuner, RB Diore Hubbard, WR DayDay Farmer

I think most would probably agree that these are the top three, in no particular order. All three have a legitimate chance to play fairly early in their career. Neal Brown isn't afraid to play true freshmen, even along the offensive line. If these three live up to their potential, this class will be a huge success.

Most Impactful - WR DayDay Farmer

Although I'm really high on Altuner, he doesn't need to come in and start from day one. Neither does Farmer, but I think he'll get the most burn as a true freshman. He's super slippery in tight spaces, almost magician-like. He's too much of a play-maker not to have on the field.

Most Underrated - RB Trae’von Dunbar

Dunbar suffered a knee injury in high school which probably scared off many at the next level, but he proved himself by rushing for over 3,000 yards as a senior. I really like his running style and physical nature. Very few have any interest in tackling the kid. He runs hard and is terrific in between the tackles.

Best Athlete - WR Keyshawn Robinson

Robinson is a pure blazer. He won 100, 200, and 400-meter race in high school which is something Neal Brown mentioned he doesn't know if he's ever seen before. He's got short and long distance speed which will help him create separation in his route and post catch. May not factor into the rotation anytime soon, but he'll be a key special teams contributor.

Best NFL Prospect - OL Kyle Altuner

Altuner is my No. 1 prospect in this class for West Virginia and if I'm being honest, it's not really close. Flip the tape on and you'll see why. He's excellent in all run blocking schemes and plays with good control and balance in his pass sets. The center of the future.

Highest Upside - WR Brandon Rehmann

Rehmann was my No. 3-rated prospect on this side until Farmer made his flip official. Although I believe Farmer is the more dynamic of the two, Rehmann's size and length will be appealing to NFL scouts. If he becomes a consistent, reliable target in the passing game, he'll be playing on Sundays.

Late Bloomer - OL Lucas Austin

Austin needs some time to fill out his frame and that's okay. They don't need him to come in and play anytime soon thanks to the depth they've create at the tackle spots. He's already added 30 pounds since last year and still has some room to grow. He's a big, extremely athletic kid that has the ability to be a freak by the time he's a finished product.
