Badgers Announce Hiring Of New Wide Receivers Coach

Kenny Guiton comes to Wisconsin from Arkansas and will reunite with one of his former coaches at Ohio State.

The Wisconsin Badgers announced the hiring of Kenny Guiton as their new wide receivers coach on Friday.

Guiton replaces Mike Brown, who left the Badgers to take the same job at Notre Dame. Guiton’s hiring was reported in December.

Guiton has experience in the Big Ten as a player. He was a quarterback at Ohio State from 2009-13. All four of those seasons Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell was an assistant with the Buckeyes, including 2011 when he was the interim head coach after the resignation of Jim Tressel.

Last season was Guyton’s third as the wide receivers coach at Arkansas, but he moved into the interim offensive coordinator role after the Razorbacks dismissed Dan Enos after eight games.

The hiring gives him a chance to reunite with his former coach.

“I'm thankful to be joining Coach Fickell's staff at Wisconsin,” said Guiton in a release. “Wisconsin has a tradition of developing great football players and people, and I'm honored to be a Badger.”

While guiding the Razorbacks offense he led them to at least 450 yards of total offense in two of his four games, including a season-high 510 total yards in a win over FIU on Nov. 18.

After throwing for 893 yards and 16 touchdowns with the Buckeyes, Guyton spent time in Buffalo Bills mini-camp and with the Los Angeles KISS of the Arena Football League in 2014.

The following year he went into coaching, starting with a graduate assistant position at Houston in 2015 under his former Ohio State offensive coordinator, Tom Herman. After going with Herman to Texas in 2016 to serve as an offensive quality control assistant for wide receivers, he went back to Houston in 2017 to take over as wide receivers coach.

He took the same job with Louisiana Tech in 2019, followed by a one-year stint with Colorado State where he was also the pass game coordinator before the joined the Razorbacks.
