Overwatch 2 Invasion Trailer Reveals Illari, PvE Story, Battle Pass Skins
Overwatch 2 Invasion has a new trailer that finally dives deeper into what’s to come in Season 6. The story behind the PvE story missions has been revealed, as well as information on the new hero, battle pass, and hero lore.
What is Overwatch 2 Invasion PvE About?
Ramattra is at the forefront of the PvE story as the leader of a rebellion known as Null Sector. His goal is to free omnics from oppression but his violent new methods have the Overwatch team back together and ready to fight him and his army of robots.
“Since our creation, humans have oppressed us. You have lived in fear. That. Ends. Now,” Ramattra says to Zenyatta. “This is not war. This is liberation.”
Pharah, Lucio, Tracer, and Winston can be seen using their abilities to hold robots back. The classic heroes along with Sojourn also have new interactions with one another as well as against Null Sector. The PvE story missions are meant to give more insight into each heroes’ backstory and involvement with Overwatch.
Who is Illari, New Support Hero in Overwatch 2?
The trailer then reveals Illari, the newest support hero. It’s exciting to finally see her face and armor after getting so many hints about her appearance and abilities. It looks like Illari was with the Overwatch crew all along in regards to the game’s lore.
Illari has highly protective armor and a massive weapon that looks to be fueled by the sun’s rays. The quick glimpse at her abilities shows her using the sun’s energy to provide her with aerial mobility as well as send down highly damaging orbs of energy.
“Face the sunrise!” she yells at one point. It seems that many of her voice lines revolve around the sun and its powers.
Flashpoint Maps, Hero Mastery, and Underworld Also Revealed
The newest trailer also gives Overwatch 2 players a taste of other content that’s to come. This includes a look at Suravasa and New Junk City, the two new Flashpoint maps. At one point, New Junk City appears to have a point that heroes are fighting over within a globe, which could be a reference to the Reckoning’s battle arena.
There’s also an Underworld co-op event that has friends teaming up together to take down omnics. Hero Mastery is also coming to Overwatch 2, providing players with more time to learn certain heroes. There will be a Hero Mastery event to go along with it.
Overwatch 2 Invasion Battle Pass
The upcoming battle pass was also mentioned in the trailer. Not a lot of information was given, unfortunately, but some exciting skins were revealed for Ana, Ashe, Pharah, Roadhog, Symmetra, Torbjorn, Winston, and Zarya.
The PvE content will be an additional cost but will come with a Sojourn skin.
Overwatch 2 Invasion is dropping on August 10, 2023.
