Wide receiver is one of the biggest questions for the Minnesota Gophers heading into next season and it appears they are addressing the issue in recruiting with the commitment of Dallas Sims.

Sims is originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada but because they play 7-on-7 football instead of the traditional 11-on-11 played in the United States, Sims is enrolled at Clearwater Academy International in Florida.

Sims has stood out since coming to the states, racking up 20 scholarship offers including from Power Five schools such as Boston College, Indiana, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, Purdue and South Florida.

At 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds, Sims has the size to make an impact on a receiver room that has been decimated by transfers. Former four-star receiver Dylan Wright entered the transfer portal earlier last week but the Gophers did add former Western Michigan receiver Corey Crooms and former UNC Charlotte receiver Elijah Spencer through the portal earlier this offseason.

With Chris Autman-Bell returning after missing last season due to injury, the receiver room should have some depth ahead of Sims' arrival in 2024.

Minnesota currently has seven commits in the 2024 recruiting class and ranks 29th nationally and sixth in the Big Ten, according to 247's composite rankings.
