Former Gopher running back Trey Potts announced his commitment to Penn State after entering the transfer portal in March.

The move takes Potts closer to home where he was a three-star recruit out of Williamsport Area High School.

Potts was part of a crowded backfield every year at Minnesota, and with Sean Tyler transferring to the Gophers from Western Michigan along with Zach Evans expected to carry a heavier load in 2023, it was looking like next season would've been no different.

In his four years at Minnesota, Potts ran four just over 1,000 yards, finishing second on the team last season with 471 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

At Penn State, Potts will provide much-needed depth behind one of the Big Ten's top rushing duos in Freshman of the Year Nicholas Singleton and Kaytron Allen. The duo combined for 1,928 yards and 22 touchdowns in 2022.
