Take a look at the WNBA standings and you'll find the Minnesota Lynx near the top of the league with an impressive 6-2 record to start the abbreviated season.
Minnesota responded from Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Sparks by throttling the Washington Mystics 68-48 Tuesday in the WNBA bubble at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
It was the fewest points allowed by the Lynx in a game since the 2013 team held the New York Liberty to 47 points.
Leading the charge on both ends of the floor was Sylvia Fowles, who finished with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Rookie guard Crystal Dangerfield scored 12 points and last year's WNBA Rookie of the Year Napheesa Collier finished with 8 points and 12 rebounds, while Lakeville native Rachel Banham added 10 points off the bench.
Next up for Minnesota is a Thursday battle against the also 6-2 Las Vegas Aces. The only team with a better record than Minnesota and Las Vegas is the 7-1 Seattle Storm. The game will be televised at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
The Lynx have made the playoffs nine consecutive seasons but they've been knocked out in the first round two years in a row. Prior to that, head coach Cheryl Reeve led the Lynx to four championships between 2011-2017 while reaching the WNBA Finals six times in the seven-year span.
There are only 14 games left in the COVID-19-shortened WNBA regular season, and the Lynx will play all 14 of those games between now and Sept. 12.
