Lynx All-Star Sylvia Fowles breaks WNBA rebounding record
The Seattle Storm rocked the Minnesota Lynx 90-66 Tuesday night, but it wasn't all bad for the Lynx as All-Star center Sylvia Fowles became the all-time leading rebounder in WNBA history.
Fowles' seventh rebound of the game gave her 3,357 career rebounds, passing former teammate and current Lynx assistant coach Rebekkah Brunson for the top spot in league history.
“I’ve had the great fortune of being able to share in Syl’s tremendous journey as a professional basketball player,” said Cheryl Reeve, head coach and general manager of the Lynx
“To witness her ability to dominate on the glass night in and night out has truly been special. Syl’s incredibly kind and generous way is just as unmatched as her rebounding. Congratulations to Syl on becoming the WNBA’s all-time greatest rebounder.”
Fowles finished the game with 15 points and 11 rebounds, though the rest of the night for Minnesota wasn't as fruitful as Seattle ran away with the game in the second half by outscoring Minnesota 49-31 to cruise to the 24-point victory.
