With the second overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft the Minnesota Lynx selected Maryland guard Diamond Miller.

The 6'3", 22-year-old guard from Somerset, New Jersey was a two-time First-team All-Big Ten (2021, 2023) and a second-team AP All-American in 2023.

BMTS writer Matthew Coller says Miller is a "potential cornerstone player for the Lynx. She has the sized, speed, athleticism and motivation to become a star in the WNBA."

"There are elements of her game that will need to be refined like her three-point shot and turnovers but all the tools are there to pair her with [Napheesa] Collier as building blocks for the future," he said.

Miller lead Maryland to the Elite Eight in last month's NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament.

In 2022-23 Miller had 19.7 points per game, 2.9 assists per game, and 6.4 rebounds per game while leading Maryland to second in the Big Ten with a 28-7 record.

Forward Aliyah Boston was taken at No. 1 by the Indiana Fever.

With their second of five picks Monday the Lynx selected Maia Hirsch with the 12th overall pick.

Hirsch is a 6'5" forward from France and is expected to come over this season. The 19-year-old currently plays for Villeneuve in Ligue Féminine de Basketball.

Four picks later the Lynx selected UConn forward Dorka Juhasz.

The 6'5" forward played her first three seasons at Ohio State where she was a Big Ten All-Freshman and a two-time All-Big Ten player before transferring to UConn ahead of the 2021-22 season.

In 2022-23 at UConn Juhasz averaged 14.2 points per game, 9.9 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game.

With the 24th overall pick in the draft the Lynx selected South Carolina guard Brea Beal, a defensive specialist.

The 6'1" guard was a 2023 All-SEC Defensive Team selection for the 36-1 South Carolina team that lost to Iowa in the Final Four.

With their fifth and final pick in the draft the Lynx selected Virginia Tech forward Taylor Soule.

The 5'11" forward was a four-time All-ACC selection in four years at Boston College and one year at Virginia Tech.
