The Minnesota United have traded one of their star forwards in Darwin Quintero to the Houston Dynamo, sources tell Bring Me The News' Declan Goff.

Minnesota will receive around $600K in allocation money spread out over two years and a possible player in return.

Neither team has confirmed the trade but Quintero took to Twitter on Tuesday and announced the club made the decision to not renew his option.

Qunitero, 32, joined in Minnesota in 2018, securing 21 goals and 20 assists in his two seasons with the Loons.

The United wrapped up an impressive 2019 campaign that saw the squad reach the MLS playoffs as well as the U.S. Open Cup final, where they fell to Atlanta United FC.

The Athletic notes that with Qunitero moving on, Minnesota has an open designated player slot on their roster. Meaning they could fill that void by the time next season rolls around.
