2024 Minnesota girls basketball state tournament: Day 1 results

We'll be providing updates as the results happen.

The 2024 Minnesota girls basketball state tournament has arrived and there will be games throughout the day Wednesday featuring the best teams in Classes 2A, 3A and 4A. The Class 1A tournament starts Thursday. 

Games are being played at Williams Arena and Maturi Pavilion on the University of Minnesota campus. You can stream the quarterfinal games on NSPN.TV before the semifinals and championship games will be available on KSTC-45TV.

Class 4A: Results

#1 Hopkins 66 vs. White Bear Lake 39

  • Top-seeded Hopkins cruised to a win behind Florida commit Liv McGill's 14 points, seven rebounds and eight assists. 
  • Lauren Hillesheim led all scorers with 17 points while adding eight rebounds and five steels for Hopkins. 
  • Tatum Woodson added 12 points, six rebounds and four assists. 
  • White Bear Lake was led by Sarah Poepard's 11 points. 

#4 Maple Grove 56, #5 Lakeville North 55

  • Maple Grove won it at the buzzer on an inbounds pass to Claire Stern. The pass went over the top of the defense and Stern found herself all alone under the basket for the winner as time expired. 
  • Stern finished with seven points while Maple Grove was led in scoring by Jordan Ode's 16 points. 
  • Trinity Wilson led Lakeville North with 16 points while Elayna Boe and Gabby Betton each had 13. 

#2 Minnetonka 74, Andover 48

  • Aaliyah Crump, one of the top players in the country in the Class of 2025, led the Skippers with 31 points. 
  • Piper Engelby and Emma Frost each scored 13 points for Andover. 

#3 St. Michael-Albertville 68, Rosemount 57

  • STMA jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening two minutes, Rosemount drew within two late in the first half but STMA never relinquished the lead.
  • Cail Jahnke lead STMA with 22 points and seven rebounds
  • Ja'Kahla Craft scored 19 points for STMA

Class 3A: Results

#1 Benilde-St. Margaret's 75, Minneapolis Roosevelt 40

  • Olivia Olson, a 5-star recruit who is committed to Michigan, led the Red Knights with 35 points. 
  • Zahara Bishop chipped in 18 points for Benilde. 
  • Olivia Wren led Roosevelt with 17 points. 
  • Benilde advances to play the winner of the 4/5 matchup between St. Peter and Stewartville

#4 St. Peter 46, #5 Stewartville 47

  • St. Peter had a chance to win it but their attempt with 5 seconds to play didn't fall and a the game ended in a scramble for the loose ball. 
  • Savannah Hedin guided Stewartville with 15 points and Audrey Shindelar scored 13. 
  • St. Peter's leading scorers were Rhyan Holmgren (15 points), Kylie Southworth (12) and Abby Maloney (12). 

#2 DeLaSalle 81, Totino-Grace 49

  • Chloe Nuss scored 28 of Totino-Grace's 49 points.
  • Five players scored in double-figures for DeLaSalle. 

#3 Alexandria Area 67 , Rock Ridge 50

  • Alexandria scored the first five points and lead until Rock Ridge went on a seven-point over a five minute stretch late in the first half to draw level at 22.
  • Alexandria entered halftime with a three-point lead, quickly making that a double-digit lead in the second half.
  • MaCee Linow and Hadley Thul both scored 21 points for Alexandria. Thul hauled in 14 rebounds

Class 2A: Results

#1 Providence Academy 94, Perham 84

  • This one went down as a shootout featuring a pair of phenomenal scorers. Maddyn Greenway, one of the top Class of 2027 recruits in the country, had 49 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists and five steals to lead Providence Academy. 
  • Willow Thiel was just as excellent for Perham, leading the Yellowjackets with 41 points and 20 rebounds. 

#2 Albany 58, Rochester Lourdes 41

  • Lourdes led 21-20 at the half before Albany erupted and outscored the Eagles 38-20 in the second half. 
  • Albany was led by Kylan Gerads, who finished with 26 points, five rebounds and five steals. Alyssa Sand added 20 points, 15 rebounds and four steals. 
  • Lauren Hust led Lourdes with 22 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and four blocks. 

#4 New London-Spicer 50, Crosby-Ironton 63
