2024 Minnesota state girls basketball tournament: Day 2 results

Welcome to Day 2 of the 2024 Minnesota state girls basketball tournament, where teams will meet on the courts inside Williams Arena and Maturi Pavilion for wall-to-wall action between the top teams in the state. 

The Class A quarterfinals get started today after 2A, 3A and 4A quarterfinals were played Wednesday. The 3A and 4A semifinals are happening today, while semifinal games in Class A and 2A will be played Friday, with all four state championship games happening Saturday. 

You can stream the Class A quarterfinal games on NSPN.TV. You need a subscription (costs $10/month or $30/year) and the subscription automatically renews unless you cancel it. All semifinal and championship games will be on KSTC/45TV. 

Class 4A semifinals at Williams Arena

#1 Hopkins 84, #4 Maple Grove 78

Hopkins survived a hot-shooting Crimson squad behind 30 points from Erma Walker and 20 points from  Florida commit Liv McGill. Maple Grove was led by Jordan Ode’s 21 points while Claire Stern had 19 and Ava Cossette had 17. 

#2 Minnetonka 67, #3 St. Michael-Albertville 49

Aliyah Crump with 27 points to set up the Hopkins-Tonka state title game. Skippers led 35-16 at the half and never looked back. 


Class 3A semifinals at Williams Arena

#1 Benilde-St. Margaret's 73, #5 Stewartville 42

The Red Knights have advanced to Saturday's state championship game in dominant fashion, and once again it was Michigan-bound star Olivia Olson, who was recently named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Minnesota, putting on a show with 32 points and seven rebounds. Zahara Bishop added 18 points as the dynamic duo accounted for 50 of BSM"s 73 points. 

#2 DeLaSalle 82, #3 Alexandria Area 69

It was 64-61 with about six minutes to go before the Islanders roared to the finish line and won by 13 points. Aneisha Scott led DeLaSalle with 29 points and Jordyn Johnson scored 20. Hadley Thul led Alexandria with 29 points, five assists and five rebounds. 

Benilde-St. Margaret's will play DeLaSalle in the championship game at 6 p.m. Saturday. 


Class 2A semifinals at Williams Arena (Friday)

6 p.m. – #1 Providence Academy vs. #5 Crosby-Ironton

8 p.m. – #2 Albany vs. #3 Minnehaha Academy


Class A quarterfinals at Maturi Pavilion

#1 Goodhue 65, Mayer Lutheran 38

Goodhue rolled to the second round behind 19 points apiece from Natalie Thomforde and Elisabeth Gadient, with Gadient adding 15 rebounds. Kendyl Lodermeier also had a double-double for Goodhue with 11 points and 11 rebounds. 

#4 Underwood 64, #5 Southwest Minnesota Christian 52

Underwood advances to the semifinals after taking down Southwest Minnesota Christian behind a balanced scoring attack that saw five players in double figures. They were led by Elizabeth Lukken (18 points), Kallyn Grove (16), Trinity Baker (13) and Mily Albjerg (11). Jocelyn Barron led Southwest Minnesota Christian with 22 points and 14 rebounds. 

#2 Mountain Iron-Buhl 71, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 36

Four players finished in double figures for MIB, led by Jordan Zubich's 20, as her team cruised to a victory Thursday. Anna Neyens finished with 18 points, Aniyah Thomas contributed 12 and Hali Saveli had 10 for MIB, which will play the winner of Buffalo Lake-Hector and Fosston in the semifinals. Ava Welk led Walker-Hackensack-Akeley with 13 points. 

#2 Buffalo-Lake-Hector 72, Fosston 35

BLH built a 40-13 lead at the half and never had trouble as they cruised into the semifinals. Rachel Kottke led BLH with 21 points.
