The Edina Hornets won their fifth state championship at the Xcel Energy Center on Saturday night, but Lorelei Nelson's third-period goal added a little bit of flair to their 2-0 win over Hill Murray in the Class AA title game.

The Hornets took the lead earlier in the third period when Nelson delivered a no-look pass to Whitney Horton for a power play goal at 9:16 of the third period. With Edina looking for more, Nelson took it into her own hands, gathering the puck in the corner and dangling between two defenders on her way to the slot and firing an off-balance wrist shot for a separator goal to put the Hornets up 2-0 at 12:18.

"Seeing it live, the first dangle I think my jaw hit the floor," Edina coach Sami Cowger told the Star Tribune. "But I was like, 'Just shoot it.' And then she did it again and I was like, 'Please just shoot it.' Then she took a stride and sniped and it shut me right up."

Reese McConnell made sure the lead held up from there, making 15 saves and leading the Hornets to the Class AA title, finishing the season with a record of 24-6-1.
