Alex Rodriguez has told a fan account that he has no plans to relocate the Timberwolves when he and Mark Lore take over majority ownership of the franchise.

There has been mass speculation that Rodriguez and Lore, who have agreed to purchase the Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx from Glen Taylor for approximately $1.5 billion, that the franchises could eventually be moved out of Minnesota.

Rodriguez helped squash some of speculation by responding to a fan account, saying "we will" keep them in Minnesota. He was replying to a message that said "Keep the wolves in Minnesota," as is shown in the screen shot below.

ESPN reported in May that the agreement to sell the Wolves and Lynx has no legal terms to prevent new owners from moving the teams, though once the report surfaced Taylor issued a statement doubling down on his claim that he won't allow the team to be moved.

"I stand by my prior statements and commitment to keeping the Timberwolves and Lynx in Minnesota," Taylor said.

The sale is expected to be finalized by July 1, per ESPN, though Taylor will continue to run the franchises until he passes the baton to the new owners in 2023.
