Former Timberwolves top pick Felton Spencer dies
Felton Spencer, the former first-round draft pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has died at the age of 55. His cause of death has not been announced.
Spencer was selected sixth overall by the Timberwolves in the 1990 NBA Draft, Minnesota's second year as an NBA franchise. He spent three seasons with Minnesota before spending the the final ten seasons in the NBA with the Jazz, Magic, Warriors, Spurs and Knicks.
He was named to the All-Rookie second team in 1990-91 and he finished seventh in the league with 272 offensive rebounds, which was one more offensive rebound than Hall of Famers Robert Parrish and Moses Malone. Dennis Rodman led the league with 361 offensive boards that season.
In the summer of 1993 the Timberwolves traded Spencer to the Utah Jazz for center Mike Brown.
No further information has been been released about Spencer's death.
