Minnesota Timberwolves rally to beat Golden State Warriors in overtime

Wolves erase a 14-point deficit and overcome the Warriors in overtime

The Minnesota Timberwolves erased a 14-point deficit in the fourth quarter and held off the defending champion Golden State Warriors 119-114 in overtime Wednesday night in Minneapolis.

Minnesota did it without Rudy Gobert, who missed the game with groin soreness. They also lost D'Angelo Russell to a sixth foul early in overtime. They had plenty of reasons to fold, but they held firm and leaned on Anthony Edwards' huge layup and Naz Reid's game-sealing dunk to secure a huge victory.

"The whole team showed up big tonight. Naz Reid played fantastic for us tonight," Edwards said immediately after the game on Bally Sports North. "D'Lo had a great-great fourth quarter and we put together some stops and we came out on top."

Russell did most of the heavy lifting in the fourth, scoring 14 straight points as the Wolves clawed their way back into the game. In overtime, Edwards' driving layup with 1:07 to go gave Minnesota a five-point lead. And Reid's dunk, after he rebounded his missed 3-pointer, sealed the win with under 10 seconds remaining.

Russell led Minnesota with 29 points, Edwards scored 27 despite shooting 10-of-26 and Reid added 24 points and 13 rebounds in his spot start in place of Gobert.

The win gets Minnesota to 28-26, good for seventh place in the jam-packed Western Conference, but only one game behind the fourth-place Clippers.

Minnesota is back in action Friday against the Orlando Magic.
