The Minnesota Timberwolves will play in one of their biggest games of the season when they travel to face the Golden State Warriors on Sunday night and it appears that they'll have the services of Anthony Edwards.

According to TNT NBA insider Chris Haynes, there is "strong optimism" that Edwards will be able to play as he works his way back from a sprained ankle suffered on Mar. 17. Edwards has missed the past three games due to the injury and was rumored to be ready to make his return Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks, but the Timberwolves held him out as a precaution.

Edwards has broken out in his third year with the Timberwolves, leading the team with 24.7 points per game and making his first career All-Star appearance. With the return of Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 22 points and made the game-winning free throws in Thursday's win over the Hawks, the Timberwolves could be fully healthy for the first time since November as they look to solidify their spot in the NBA Playoffs.

The Timberwolves enter Sunday's game with a 37-37 record and are tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for seventh place in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the Warriors (39-36) are 1.5 games ahead of the Wolves for the sixth spot, which includes an automatic spot in the playoffs.

A Wolves win would be crucial in their hopes of avoiding the play-in tournament for the second straight year, which involves the teams that finish seventh through 10th at the end of the season.
