Taurean Prince is set to leave the Timberwolves after two years in Minnesota.

Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed on Twitter that the Timberwolves have declined to guarantee Prince's $7.4 million contract for 2023-24, meaning he'll enter the free agent pool ahead of the new season.

Prince arrived in Minnesota as part of the Ricky Rubio trade in August 2021, with the Wolves sending Rubio to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Prince and a 2022 second-round pick.

Fansided reports that by waiving Prince – along with Nathan Knight and Jordan McLaughlin – the Wolves should free up enough cap space to extend Nickeil Alexander-Walker, sign newly drafted rookies Leonard Miller and Jaylen Clark, sign a veteran player to a minimum contract, and use their Mid-Level Exception to find another free agent.

Prince operated from the bench during his time at the Wolves, averaging 9.1 points per game in 2022-23, and 7.3 points during 2021-22.
