Timberwolves acquire forward Ed Davis from Knicks
The Minnesota Timberwolves continued assembling their frontcourt, acquiring forward Ed Davis from the New York Knicks on Sunday afternoon. The trade, which came hours after the Wolves re-signed Juancho Hernangomez to a three-year contract, adds depth and a veteran presence to the Minnesota frontcourt.
Davis has been more of a role player during his career, averaging 6.3 points and 6.6 rebounds in 11 NBA seasons. After spending last season in Utah, the Knicks acquired Davis during the NBA draft for two second-round picks and then flipped him to Minnesota in exchange for Omari Spellman, Jacob Evans, and a future second-round pick.
Although Davis' statistical impact is minimal, both ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski signaled it's a solid depth move for the Wolves.
With Davis' arrival, the Timberwolves will likely use Hernangomez as the team's starting power forward alongside Karl-Anthony Towns with Davis coming off the bench.
