Timberwolves blast Jazz for 30th win of season

Depleted Wolves run away from the Jazz in 143-118 win

Fresh off the blockbuster trade that sent D'Angelo Russell to the Lakers and Mike Conley from Utah to Minnesota, it was a battle between the shorthanded Timberwolves and Jazz and the boys from the Land of 10,000 Lakes left Salt Lake City with a 143-118 victory.

Jaylen Nowell's 3-pointer with 8:13 left in the game set a career-high in a rare start for the young guard as the Wolves bounced back after Tuesday's blowout loss to the Nuggets. Nowell scored 30 points, good for second on the team behind Anthony Edwards' 31.

Minnesota used a third quarter offensive explosion to take a 10-point halftime lead and turn it into a 29-point lead entering the fourth quarter.

Edwards shot 13-of-27 while registering eights assists and seven rebounds.

Playing extended minutes for the second straight game, Wolves rookie Josh Minott set a career high with 12 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Luke Garza also got big minutes off the bench and finished with 25 points. He and Minott will represent the Timberwolves in the G League All-Star Game.

Minnesota tied their season high with 23 3s in the game.

The Wolves continue their four-game road trip Friday night in Memphis.
