Wolves drop 6th straight, have just 5 wins since Thanksgiving
The season continues to spiral downward for the Timberwolves (15-28) as they lost at home to the Denver Nuggets 107-100 Monday night.
Karl-Anthony Towns, in his third game back since missing 15 straight games with a left knee sprain and an illness, led Minnesota with 28 points, eight rebounds and five assists. But the rest of the starting lineup – Robert Covington, Jarrett Culver, Shabazz Napier and Andrew Wiggins – combined for only 36 points on 43 shots.
Michael Porter Jr. led the Nuggets by coming off the bench and scoring 20 points (9-of-12 shooting) and adding 14 rebounds in 30 minutes.
It's the sixth straight loss for the struggling Wolves, who have only five wins since Thanksgiving. Since winning Nov. 27 to improve to 10-8, Minnesota has dropped 20 of its last 25 games.
Their five wins are against the Kings, Nets, Warriors, Cavaliers and Blazers. The Kings, Nets, Warriors and Cavaliers have four of the five-worst records in the NBA and the Blazers are 19-26.
Minnesota has just two wins this season against teams that are currently above .500. They beat Utah (30-13) Nov. 17 and they took down the Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat (30-13) in the third game of the season.
