Wolves keep undefeated home start going with 112-99 win over 76ers

Anthony Edwards scored 31 points in the Wolves seventh straight home win

Minnesota added another good team to its early season resume with a thorough beatdown of the 10-4 Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night, leading from start to finish at Target Center.

With the visitors going into the game without reigning MVP Joel Embiid, who was being rested, the Wolves were up 5-0 before the visitors could blink. Minnesota ended the first quarter up by 17 as Anthony Edwards poured in 11 of his 31 points in the opening quarter.

Philadelphia showed life in the second quarter, outscoring the Wolves by nine to draw the score to 57-49 at the break. Minnesota continued to stifle the opposition's three point attempts, keeping Philly to 21% from beyond the arc in the first half.

Edwards outdid his first quarter effort by putting up 13 as the Wolves started to pull away ending the third quarter up 91-79, keeping up the pressure in the final quarter opening up a 21-point lead with 5:35 left.

Philadelphia head coach Nick Nurse used that deficit to wave the white flag, pulling the starters. The Wolves 112-99 win keeps their undefeated home start going with their seventh straight home win to start the season.

The Wolves improve to 11-3 and remain at the top of the Western Conference.

Next up: Wolves host the Kings Friday as part of the In-Season Tournament. Tip off set for 7 p.m.
