Former Twins All-Star Brian Dozier announces retirement
Former Minnesota Twins fan-favorite Brian Dozier is retiring from Major League Baseball.
Dozier's retirement was announced through the Twins on Thursday morning. Dozier did not release a statement about his decision.
The 33-year-old played for the Twins from 2012-2018 before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers, then won a World Series with the Nationals in 2019 and finished his career with the New York Mets in 2020, though he played in just seven games.
Dozier's 151 homers with the Twins ranks 10th in team history. He's one of only three players in Twins history to hit 40 home runs in a season, with Harmon Killebrew and Nelson Cruz being the others.
Dozier was an All-Star in 2015 and participated in the 2014 Home Run Derby at Target Field.
