Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic has been placed on the 10-day injured list ahead of Thursday's series finale against the Twins.

Kelenic fractured his foot kicking a water cooler in the Mariners dugout after being wrung up on a 90 mph backdoor curveball from Jhoan Duran in the ninth inning of Minnesota's 6-3 victory. The Mariners were down three runs with two men on and no outs at the time of Kelenic's strikeout.

"I let the emotions get the best of me there," a visibly upset Kelenic told media Thursday. "I just feel terrible. Especially for the guys. I just let the emotions get the best of me and I let them down."

This will go down as one of the odd ways to get injured in MLB history. Some of the other iconic injury stories include Rickey Henderson getting frostbite on his foot after leaving an ice pack on too long, and of course the legendary Marty Cordova story in which he had to miss a few day games after falling asleep in a tanning bed and was seriously sunburned.

The Mariners outfielder had gone 4-for-12 with two RBI's in the first three games of the series and is one of Seattle's top young players, having been drafted sixth overall by the Mets in 2018.
