Not only did the Minnesota Twins do nothing on MLB trade deadline day Tuesday, they actually lost a player for nothing as starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel opted out of his deal with the team to become a free agent.

Keuchel, 35, signed a deal with the Twins that included the ability to opt out of the contract if he wasn't brought up to the MLB level by Aug. 1. The Twins did not call him up and therefore he's reportedly elected to use his opt out and become a free agent, according to Britt Ghiroli of The Athletic

Keuchel made six starts for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints and posted a 1.13 ERA with 28 strikeouts in 32 innings.

Minnesota will instead continue on with its current rotation of Sonny Gray, Pablo Lopez, Joe Ryan, Bailey Ober and Kenta Maeda.
