The wait is finally over for Matt Wallner as the Minnesota Twins have called up Wallner for Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

Wallner has been on a tear at Triple-A St. Paul this season, hitting .291/.403/.524 with 11 home runs and 47 RBI in 67 games with the Saints.

Despite his production and hitting 7-for-19 with a homer and four RBI in 11 games for the Twins this season, the Twins have opted to use a corner outfield of Joey Gallo (.186/.302/.462, 16 HR, 30 RBI) and Max Kepler (.207/.279/.409, 12 HR, 30 RBI) while the team's offense ranks 24th in runs per game (4.18) and 22nd in OPS (.709).

Wallner's arrival should provide a boost, but it won't come at the expense of either veteran. Jose Miranda was scratched from last night's game with a sore shoulder and he's been placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder impingement.

Miranda hit .268/.325/.426 with 15 home runs and 66 RBI during his rookie season in 2022 but has regressed in his second year, hitting .211/.263/.303 with three homers and 13 RBI.

Wallner's return should only help the Twins offense as they look to pick up another win against the A's on Saturday night.
