Twins get 'very, very good' news about Byron Buxton's injury
It appears that the Twins have dodged a bullet as the club received promising test results after Byron Buxton left Monday's training camp practice with an apparent ankle injury.
"He had several tests done later last night. He got the results and there was no actual structural damage or injury they could find, which was tremendous news. That being said, I will say he was in some discomfort so you don't want to paint is as where we're completely out of the woods and he’ll be out there running around tomorrow," said manager Rocco Baldelli, in an interview with MLB Network Radio.
"We're going to treat the symptoms and watch him get back to health. As far as what we were hoping to get from those results, we got that. That's a very, very good thing for Buck and all of us."
Buxton, per The Athletic's Aaron Gleeman, was tracking a deep fly ball to center field off the bat of Nelson Cruz when his cleat appeared to get caught in the ground. Buxton had to be carted off the field.
Buxton, who was limited to 87 games last season because of injuries, was scheduled to see a doctor again on Tuesday.
There is no timetable at this point for Buxton's return.
Minnesota is set to open the season Friday, July 24 on the road against the Chicago White Sox, though they'll play an exhibition two days earlier at Wrigley Field against the Cubs.
