Former Vikings running back Dalvin Cook remains a free agent as NFL teams open training camps this week.

The 27-year old running back was back in the Twin Cities this weekend hosting a football camp and discussed his free agent status with KSTP Sports, saying: "At this moment, it's just kind of taking my time and being patient with the process."

That sounds more like a running back that hasn't received an offer he was expecting after being released by the Vikings in June. Cook isn't the only running back learning that the NFL doesn't value the position as it once did.

Pro Football Talk reported that running backs across the league had organized a Zoom call this weekend to discuss the financial market for the position, as star running backs like Cook, Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley struggle to get deals they feel fit their talents.

Cook has reportedly been in the sights of several AFC East teams since his release, but no deal has materialized for the four-time Pro Bowl running back.

"You can't rush this," continued Cook. "This is a life decision that can put me in a great predicament for my future. I'm just taking my time and I'm not rushing it. When I make that decision it's going to be right for me and my family."
