Will Dalvin Cook be wearing Patriot blue next season?

The Patriots are "intrigued to some extent on pairing a running back with Rhamondre Stevenson," according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler on Wednesday morning's Sportscenter. Could that running back he Cook?

Cook was released by the Vikings last month after six years in Minnesota.

The four-time Pro Bowler is a seemingly highly-regarded free agent running back despite nearing the wrong side of the running back age curve and taking a step back last year statistically.

Cook's production dropped off for a second consecutive season in 2022 as his yards per carry dropped from 4.7 to 4.4 while being the lead back in a running game that finished 27th in Expected Points Added last season.

Stevenson rushed for just over 1,000 yards in 17 games for the Patriots in 2022 while also scoring five touchdowns. The 24-year-old back was drafted in the fourth round of the 2021 draft and could pair well Cook.

Whether this is just smoke or not remains to be seen as past potential suitors have yet to make a move for the 27-year-old Cook. The clock is ticking on Cook finding a new home ahead of training camp with most teams opening their camps in three weeks.
