Jared Allen named finalist for 2024 Hall of Fame class

Allen finished his career with 136 sacks

Legendary pass rusher Jared Allen has been named one of the 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2024.

Allen spent six years in Minnesota, where he racked up 85 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries and four interceptions. Allen was named to the Pro Bowl five times in his career and was a four time All-Pro.

The pass rusher put together one of the most historic seasons in Vikings and NFL history in 2011 when he registered 22 sacks, just a half sack short of the all-time NFL record for a single season. Allen finished second in voting for the 2011 AP Defensive Player of the Year award.

Allen finished his 12-year NFL career with 136 sacks, which is 12th most all-time on the NFL's official list. Kansas City drafted Allen in the fourth round of the 2004 draft. Minnesota traded for Allen in April 2008, sending multiple picks in that year's draft to acquire him.

Hall of Fame voters will now make their selections ahead of February's Super Bowl in Las Vegas. The 2024 class will be announced February 8 during the NFL Honors broadcast.
