Jordan Hicks says his hope is to return Sunday

Hicks needed emergency surgery for compartment syndrome Nov. 12

Just over one month from a near career-threatening leg injury, Jordan Hicks is ready to get back on the football field and help the Vikings defense in their playoff push.

Shortly after the Vikings' Week 10 win over the Saints, Hicks was in surgery to deal with compartment syndrome in his leg. Hicks was injured early in the game and played through the pain before finally being taken out in the third quarter.

The Vikings placed the 31-year-old linebacker on injured reserve two days later. Now, four games later, the team has opened Hicks' 21-day practice window as he gears up for his return. Hicks said Tuesday the "past month has gone by slow" as he's recovered and worked himself back into game shape and that his mindset has always been "get back as soon as possible."

Minnesota currently owns the sixth seed in the NFC playoff race with just three games left in the season, all against division opponents. Hicks said he feels 100 percent and that "all signs are good right now."

When asked if he will be able to suit up Sunday against the Lions, Hicks simply responded, "That's the hope, absolutely."
