Kirk Cousins has COVID-19.

Cousins went home from practice feeling ill on Thursday, and Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed Friday that Cousins tested positive and will miss Sunday's preseason opener agains the Las Vegas Raiders.

O'Connell said Cousins has so far had minimal symptoms.

This is the second known time Cousins has tested positive for COVID-19. He missed Minnesota's Week 17 game at Lambeau Field against the Packers after testing positive for COVID three days before the game.

Cousins' current vaccination status is unknown, though he said last year that he had not received any of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Without Cousins, backup quarterbacks Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion will both "play a ton" against the Raiders, according to O'Connell.
