Vikings sign DT Dalvin Tomlinson to 2-year deal
The Minnesota Vikings have reportedly agreed to terms with defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Tomlinson will get a 2-year deal worth $22 million.
Tomlinson spent the first four seasons of his career with the New York Giants. The 26-year old recorded 8.5 sacks and showed off the versatility to play in multiple positions across the defensive line.
While Tomlinson has spent a majority of his snaps at nose tackle, ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports the Vikings will try to use him at the 3-technique spot currently occupied by Shamar Stephen.
Tomlinson's signing followed a tough day for the Vikings, who lost out on guard Joe Thuney (who signed a 5-year, $80 million deal with the Kansas City Chiefs), and defensive ends Trey Hendrickson (4-year, $60 million deal with the Cincinnati Bengals) and Carl Lawson (3-year, $45 million with the deal with the New York Jets).
The Vikings reportedly have made an offer to Seattle cornerback Shaquille Griffin and are interested in Denver safety Will Parks.
Shortly after the Tomlinson news broke, NFL Network Tom Pelissero reports the Vikings have also signed LB Nick Vigil, who spent last season with the LA Chargers.
