Justin Jefferson will not make his return for the Minnesota Vikings against the New Orlean Saints, with Sunday's game coming too soon in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The Vikings designated Jefferson to return to practice on Wednesday but head coach Kevin O'Connell had suggested his playing in Sunday's game would be "a little aggressive" of a move in his recovery.

Despite listing him as "questionable" on Friday, the Vikings downgraded Jefferson to out on Saturday. They have also downgraded guard Chris Reed to out with a foot injury.

In another significant move Saturday, the Vikings elevated veteran quarterback Sean Mannion to the roster. He will serve as the primary backup to Joshua Dobbs after rookie QB Jaren Hall was ruled out due to a concussion suffered in last week's win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Defensive lineman T.J. Smith and linebacker Nick Vigil have been elevated and signed to the active roster respectively.
