Vikings elevate Myles Gaskin, Trishton Jackson to active roster

Gaskin joins Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu as the only active running backs on the Vikings roster

Ahead of Saturday's late-season tilt against the Bengals, the Vikings have elevated running back Myles Gaskin and wide receiver Trishton Jackson to the active roster.

Minnesota will be without starting running back Alexander Mattison after he suffered an ankle injury in Sunday's 3-0 win over the Raiders. The Vikings ruled the 25-year-old out for the game, leaving the team with just Ty Chandler and Kene Nwangwu as the lone backs on the roster.

Gaskin was signed by the Vikings in August after he was cut by the Dolphins. Minnesota placed Gaskin on their practice squad before the Rams signed him off the practice squad in October, only to waive the 26-year-old three weeks later. Minnesota once again signed Gaskin to the practice squad on Nov. 13.

In his five-year career Gaskin has 1,355 rushing yards and seven touchdowns, though he has yet to take an offensive snap in 2023.

Jackson has been with the Vikings since being signed to the practice squad in 2021. After four years in the NFL, Jackson made his first in-game appearance this season in the Vikings' Week 3 loss to the Chargers. Jackson has caught two passes for nine yards this season.
