Wild trade Connor Dewar to Toronto for center Dmitry Ovchinnikov, fourth-round pick

Dewar had registered 14 points, 10 goals and four assists, in 57 games for Minnesota this season

Bill Guerin rounded out another active trade deadline day by trading center Connor Dewar to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In exchange the Wild will receive center Dmitry Ovchinnikov and Toronto's 2026 fourth-round pick in the trade.

Dewar registered 14 points, 10 goals and four assists, in 57 games for Minnesota this season. Minnesota selected Dewar in the third-round of the 2018 draft. The 24-year-old played 173 games for the Wild over the last three seasons registering 38 points, 18 goals and 20 assists.

There was some question over whether the Wild would re-sign Dewar this offseason. He was set to become a restricted free-agent with arbitration rights.

The trade potentially clears room for Mason Shaw, who recently returned from an ACL injury, and Marcus Foligno, who has been out since early February with a lower-body injury. Minnesota new center prospect Marat Khusnutdinov is reportedly set to arrive Friday and could be a replacement for Dewar.

Ovchinnikov was originally drafted in the fifth-round by the Maple Leafs in 2020. The 21-year-old has yet to appear in the NHL, spending the pas three season with Toronto's AHL-affiliate the Toronto Marlies. He has registered 12 points, nine goals and three assists, in 31 career games with the Marlies.
