Wild defeat Sabres, lose Dumba to possible injury
The Minnesota Wild, who entered Tuesday with a league-worst 16 points in the NHL, picked up a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
Minnesota jumped out to a quick lead thanks to Zach Parise's two first-period goals. The Minnesota winger scored his first goal on a nice feed from Joel Eriksson Ek seven minutes in and then netted another on a power play with four seconds remaining.
The 35-year-old forward is now up to eight goals on the season. Defenseman Jonas Brodin also scored his first goal of the season.
Alex Stalock played exceptionally well in net making 30 saves on 31 shots and nearly pitched a shutout before Buffalo scored with an extra attacker on the ice with 3:49 remaining in the third period.
But Jason Zucker iced the game with an empty-netter to secure the win.
The only bad news was top defenseman Matt Dumba left the game with an undisclosed injury. Dumba's last shift came at the end of the second period and he did not touch the ice in the third.
With the win, the Wild improve to 8-11-2 and are up 18 points.
